At Bright Spark Power we want to be clear about our offers. This pages details the terms and conditions of the products and offers presented on our site, as well as some terms and conditions for using our site.

Our Best Rate Guarantee


When on a plan with a Best Rate Guarantee, for the period of your agreement, the Electricity General Usage Rate is guaranteed not to increase on your service above the advertised rate at the time in which you entered into the agreement. If within the term of the agreement, the advertised rate of the Electricity General Usage Rate is reduced to a rate lower than your current rate, your rate will be reduced to the new lower rate in your next billing period. If within the term of agreement, the advertised rate of the Electricity General Usage Rate is increased to a rate higher than the rate at the time you entered your agreement, your rate will not be increased above that agreed rate. Our Best Rate Guarantee will no longer apply if you choose to end your agreement; or change to an agreement that is not eligible e.g. a Standard Market Contract offer. If your rate is going to change, we will notify you of any change to your rate during your agreement with a minimum of 10 business days’ notice. $25 Sign-up bonus


When entering into an agreement on an eligible plan, you will receive a $25.00 credit on your Bright Spark Power Electricity account. Bright Spark Power serviceability and credit approval criteria apply. If you cancel, disconnect, or transfer your service to another retailer within the first three months, the $25.00 credit maybe withdrawn. The $25.00 sign-up credit is not able to be combined with any other offer or promotion and is only applicable on an eligible market retail contract plan. The $25.00 credit is an invoice credit and cannot be exchanged for cash or a credit note and can only be applied to your Bright Spark Power Invoice. The $25.00 Sign-Up Bonus is subject to eligibility deemed by Bright Spark Power. All information is correct as at 1st September 2020 and is subject to change.




Refer a friend bonus


If you have a current Bright Spark Power service, your reward when your friend is approved and connected will be $25.00 applied to your Bright Spark Power invoice. Your friend must apply from the referral link we have given you. If your friend applies from a separate link or applies independently (i.e. if they visit www.brightsparkpower.com.au directly) you will not receive a reward. You must not market or promote this offer through paid advertising channels or to the public at large (i.e. on public blog sites, search engines or in sponsored ads). You will only receive a credit if your friend's application is approved (in accordance with our usual application processes and assessments). Note: We will not tell you if your friend's application is approved or declined for privacy and confidentiality reasons. You cannot refer a friend who already has one of our services or has held one in the last 18 months. If the referred customer cancels or disconnects their service within the first three months, the referral credit may be withdrawn. Invoice credit is cannot be exchanged for cash or a credit note and can only be applied to your Bright Spark Power invoice. The credit may take 4 to 8 weeks to be credited. This program is provided in good faith and expect the same good faith in return. Please note that we may withhold awards where we believe customers are acting in bad faith or otherwise acting contrary to the intent of this program. We cannot cover every nefarious scenario, nor will we attempt to, but we do promise to be fair and reasonable. Bright Spark Power retains the right to withdraw this feature if it is abused in any fashion or impacts the ability for Bright Spark Power to meet or adhere to any commonwealth or state regulations or laws. Market Retail Contract


A market retail contract is the terms and conditions for the electricity offers from Bright Spark Power and includes all the details of how we provide you a connection, supply the service, our management of the metering services and how and when we send you bills for your electricity service. Customers on the following Bright Spark Power Electricity Plans, are on market retail contracts:

  • Aussie Flat Rate, or
  • Aussie Smart Flat Rate, or
  • Aussie Car & Home, or
  • Aussie Business Flat Rate, or
  • Aussie Business Time of Use, or
  • Residential 12 Month Contract, or
  • Residential Pay as You Go, or
  • Aussie Flexi Rate, or
  • Business 12 Month Contract.

'Powered by Bright Spark Power' is our 'by invitation' business promotion and referral programme. You can ask to, or be invited to join the programme. Confirmation of your inclusion in the programme will be provided via email.

The aim of the programme is to promote Australian businesses, to a wider Australian audience via specially created content. Its our way of giving back even more to Australian business, who have connected with Bright Spark Power.

The programme is open to customers on business flat rate and business time of use tariffs. The programme is also open to smaller 'at home' sole traders and other business operations that may be associated with a residential tariff.

'Powered by Bright Spark Power' content creation and promotion

It costs you nothing to be involved, just a little bit of your time invested to co-create great content that promotes your business. When you join, we will:

  • Write about your business, using material from your website and social media and post it on our blog.
  • Promote your business in its own, exclusive posts on our social media – generally Facebook or LinkedIn
  • Offer you a detailed Q&A content piece, about your business, conducted via email and posted on our website and social channels
  • Offer you a visual media content piece such as a video filmed in person or via online meeting, posted on our website and social channels
  • All content will link back to your business links, and be available in original copy for you to keep and use for your own promotional purposes.

For clarity, once new content is created you will be invited to feedback and request changes. Once agreed, the content is deemed approved and we will then promote it according to our own scheduling

'Powered by Bright Spark Power' referral bonus

Superseding the standard 'refer a friend' bonus, if we have agreed you will be apart of the 'Powered by Bright Spark Power' programme:

  • Your reward when a new residential service customer is approved and connected to Bright Spark Power will be a $50.00 credit applied to your Bright Spark Power invoice. The new residential service customer will receive a $25.00 credit to their first account with Bright Spark Power
  • Your reward when a new business service customer is approved and connected to Bright Spark Power will be a $100.00 credit applied to your Bright Spark Power invoice. The new business service customer will receive a $50.00 credit to their first account with Bright Spark Power
  • The new customer must apply from the referral link we have given you. If they apply from a separate link or apply independently (i.e. if they visit www.brightsparkpower.com.au directly) you will not receive a reward.
  • You cannot refer a customer who already has one of our services or has held one in the last 18 months. If the referred customer cancels or disconnects their service within the first three months, the referral credit may be withdrawn.

  • For clarity, during the period of the 'Birthday Bonus' promotion, the 'Birthday Bonus' amounts will apply.

'Powered by Bright Spark Power' referral link materials

As part of the 'Powered by Bright Spark Power' programme Bright Spark Power may agree to create and provided printed materials with your referral QR code or link. Generally the business may promote this content as they wish, however, Bright Spark Power retains the right to withdraw your link if it is abused in any fashion or impacts the ability for Bright Spark Power to meet or adhere to any commonwealth or state regulations or laws

Participation in the programme

Participation in the "Powered by Bright Spark Power" program is subject to eligibility deemed by Bright Spark Power. By agreeing to participate in the programme you agree that

  • Bright Spark Power may represent your business or organisation as a customer of Bright Spark Power
  • Bright Spark Power can used the agreed co-created content including images, voice and video for whatever promotional purposes it deems appropriate including but not limited to our website, our social media channels, printed material, PR, video, radio etc
  • Bright Spark Power may seek out content about your business that is publicly available on the internet including your website and social media content and use this content to promote your business and our mutual association
  • You can withdraw from the programme at any time by emailing marketing@brightsparkpower.com.au. Content with your business details will be removed from our website within 6 weeks. Any past content that has been 'published' via press, in print or social media channels is considered ephemeral and may remain until it is no longer generally available

'Business Christmas Bonus' Referral Promotion (Give $50, Get $50)


Bright Spark Power 'Business Christmas Bonus' referral promotion runs from 8 November 2021 to 14 January 2022 inclusive of those dates.

Bright Spark Power 'Business Christmas Bonus' is an additional 'bonus' amount on top of the standing refer a friend amount of $25 to the referrer and $25 to the referee.

To achieve the Business Christmas Bonus

  • You must have an active Business Electricity service with Bright Spark Power

  • You must refer your contact using your unique referral link as shown in your customer portal or provided via email
  • The service must apply from the referral link we have given you. If your staff or friend applies from a separate link or applies independently (i.e. if they visit brightsparkpower.com.au directly and apply from this page) you will not receive a reward.
  • The service must apply and be approved to connect to a Bright Spark Power service between the dates of 8 November 2021 to 14 January 2022

When these conditions are met, the first standing refer a friend amount of $25 to the referrer and $25 to the referee will be credited to each of your bills. The first referral credit may take 4 to 8 weeks to be credited. Your 'Business Christmas Bonus' amounts of a further $25 each will be credited in a follow up bill which may take a further 4 to 8 weeks.

You will only receive a credit if your the referred service's application is approved (in accordance with our usual application processes and assessments). Note: We will not tell you if a service's application is approved or declined for privacy and confidentiality reasons.

Compare and Donate


Bright Spark Power 'Compare and Donate' promotion runs from 1 July 2021 to 31 January 2022 inclusive of those dates.

The Bright Spark Power 'Compare and Donate' promotion allows a customer to submit a recent electricity bill to Bright Spark Power for a price comparison. Bright Spark Power has pledged to donate $5 for every valid residential comparison or $10 for every valid business comparison, split amongst a number of charities. The customer will have preselected where their donation goes based on the landing page they submitted their bill on.

Valid comparisons for donation

  • The image submitted for comparison must show the NMI, the number of days in the period, the kWh usage and any other fees charged for the period. If more information is required or the image is unclear the customer may be asked for more information in order to validate the donation
  • Only premises not already connected to Bright Spark Power are eligible for comparison
  • Only premises in NSW Ausgrid, Endeavour and Essential distribution regions, and QLD Energex distribution regions are eligible for a comparison donation
  • A single premises is only eligible for one donation and one increased donation to $25 (increase activated upon joining). If the same premises is submit for comparison on more than one occasion or to more than one charity, the first submission will be counted for the donation
  • A business tariff is defined as the NMI being listed with the distributor as a business tariff.

Once a customer has submitted and received back their comparison Bright Spark Power will add the donation amount to the selected charity.

By submitting a comparison form including your email address and/or phone number you are giving Bright Spark Power permission to contact you with regards to your information submitted for comparison. Bright Spark Power will store or delete data inline with the privacy policy on this website.

The customer will be given the option of joining Bright Spark Power when they receive their comparison. If the customer chooses to connect their premises to Bright Spark Power, Bright Spark Power pledge to increase the donation amount from to $25. The donation amount will be increased when the premises is connected (not when the order is submitted).

It is possible for the customer to skip the process of doing the comparison and just join Bright Spark Power by using the specific landing pages for their charity. The Non-Profits and charities currently connected with the program are

Standing Offer - Standard Retail Contract


Where a region has regulated (notified) prices, Bright Spark Power will provide, in addition to a market retail contract, a standing offer contract. The Standard Retail Contract contains the terms and conditions for the regulated price standing offers from Bright Spark Power.

This contract includes all the details of how we provide you a connection, supply the service, our management of the metering services and how and when we send you bills for your electricity service. This agreement may apply for residential or business services that are provided on a standard retail contract.

Customers on the following Bright Spark Power Electricity Plans, are on a Standard Retail Contract:
