The Smart is for Smart Meter!

When it comes to your electricity meter, you might think - if its not broken - theres no need to fix it. Or maybe the lights are switching on so getting an electricity plan that better suits your lifestyle is bottom of the to do list (we hear you!)

But just like many didn't realise the benefits of a smart phone as they started rolling out a decade ago, the benefits of a smart meter may still be unclear. With the launch of the Bright Spark Power Aussie Smart Flat Rate Electricity Plan on November 1, for Essential customers, we are aiming to change all that.

Who is the Aussie Smart Flat Rate Electricity Plan for?

  • This electricity plan is for Essential Energy regional NSW customers who do not yet have a smart meter - but are ready to consider this change

  • Of course its available for those who already have a compatible smart meter too!

  • We're trialling the plan in Essential and will look to other areas of NSW and QLD after we gather some results

Why did we develop the Aussie Smart Flat Rate Electricity Plan?

  • We already install smart meters at no charge to customers giving them the chance to have the existing meter/s replaced to the newer technology at no cost to them

  • Smart meters help us help homes and business monitor their electricity usage in (almost) real time.

  • That makes it easy for customers to have more control of how much they use, when they use electricity, and how much they spend

  • Plus it helps Bright Spark Power better predict usage patterns to help plan the purchase of more renewable energy

  • Helping customers transition to smart meters is a key part of delivering on Our Ten Year Plan to get to 100% renewable energy

How can I benefit from the Aussie Smart Flat Rate Electricity Plan?

  • A smart meter installed at no charge will give you greater visibility of your electricity usage as you'll be able to see how much you are using at different times of day

  • You do not need to worry about receiving estimated usage charges anymore, as the Smart Meter provides daily usage updates to Bright Spark Power, and we use this Actual usage to invoice you for the electricity you actually used... Not some market estimated guess!

  • Overall this plan on a smart meter gives you the opportunity to control your usage which ultimately means control of your costs

  • As we continue to progress on Our Ten-Year Plan goal of sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2030, we will also continue to pass on the benefits to you as well.

What's involved, when I switch to a compatible smart meter with Bright Spark Power?

  • Bright Spark Power works with our Aussie metering partner to install a smart meter at the customer premises, at no charge to the customer

  • Normally the smart meter change is a straightforward agreed appointment with a short 30 to 60 minute interruption to your electricity, while the old meters are removed and replaced with the new Smart Meter

  • The appointment is arranged with you, to schedule a day and time that suits you best.

  • Once the meter is replaced, that is it... All done, and you are then on our Aussie Smart Flat Rate plan, and are helping us to drive towards100% renewable sourced electricity by 2030!

  • The same simple straightforward flat rate, but just that little bit smarter :-)
